Luis Sandoval is a Two time Daytime Emmy Award winner television producer and reporter. He serves as a Lead correspondent for Univision network’s morning Show Despierta America.
On October 11, 2018 Luis came out as gay during a live broadcast of “Despierta America” with the intention of creating awareness of the issues that LGBTQ+ young Latinos face in America, becoming the first and only out Latino TV personality in Spanish media in the US.
Currently Sandoval leads the Los Angeles chapter of “Orgullo Pride” an employee resource group at Univision dedicated to creating a positive environment for LGBTQ+ employees within the company, advise and guide Univision on content regarding LGBTQ+ issues and community outreach.
In 2019,2020 and 2021 Sandoval has received The GLAAD Media Award in the category of Outstanding TV Journalism – Newsmagazine (Spanish-Language). He’s a Seven-time Telly Award winner, as well as a Los Angeles Area Emmy winner.
